Morello designed and manufactured an heavy duty transporter to move steel material around a still mill yard.
It can transports up to 130 tons of load thanks to its 16 superelastic wheels and its high installed power.
This diesel powered self-propelled trailer is equipped with a 150 kW diesel generating set.
Due to diesel generator the heavy duty transporter can be driven by electric motors instead of hydraulic ones. Avoiding a complex hydraulic system for driving it means a very low maintenance (an hydraulic machine always need a lot of maintenance) and a better control of traction and steering!
A better control of motors also means a lower fuel consumption and a lower ecological impact.
This heavy duty transporter has n°8 wheel steering but, in order to reduce turning radius, it is also possible to supply it with all n° 16 wheels steering.
Every couple of wheels is mounted on an oscillating axle and each axle is mounted on a rocker arm; this mechanical configuration allow the diesel powered mover to travel even on uneven floors without overloading a wheel or an axle.
The heavy duty transporter can be controlled by a pendant panel or by a radio remote controller. Both of them allow a potentiometric control of the acceleration that means an acceleration/deceleration ramp extremely gradual, millimetric movements and smoothly speed changes.
